Unable to Save Password When Connecting
When starting up your computer, Windows might ask you for a username and/or password. Are you clicking “OK” or “Cancel?” You must click “OK” at this prompt in order for Windows to save passwords.
Additional Troubleshooting Steps Windows 95/98 and Windows ME
If you still cannot save passwords, try following these steps to fix the problem.
- Open the Network Control Panel:
- Click the “Start” menu.
- Choose “Settings,” then “Control Panel.”
- In the window that appears, double-click the icon labeled “Network.”
- Add the Client for Microsoft Networks:
- Click the button labeled “Add.”
- In the window that appears, click “Client,” then click “Add.”
- In the left-hand column, click “Microsoft.”
- In the right-hand column, click “Client for Microsoft Networks.”
- Click “OK.”
- Click the tab labeled “Identification.”
- Type a name into the box labeled “Computer Name.”
- Type "Workgroup" into box labeled “Workgroup.”
- Click “OK.”
- Follow any further instructions your computer gives you.
- After completing these steps then rebooting, you should be able to click the “Save Password” option when connecting to the Internet.
