How to Change Your Home Page

Your home page is the first web page that opens when you start your web browser. It can be changed to any page you wish by following the instructions below. (Use the instructions specific for your web browser!)

Internet ExplorerWindows

  1. Within Internet Explorer, click the "Tools" menu and choose "Options".
  2. In the "Home page" section, type the address of the web page you wish to use in the "Address:" box.
    • The "Use Current" button will set your home page to whatever page is currently showing in your browser.
  3. Click "OK"

SafariMac OS X

  1. Within Safari, click the "Safari" menu and choose "Preferences."
  2. In the dialog box that appears, click "General."
  3. Type the address of the web page you wish to use in the "Home page" box.
    • You can click the button labeled "Set to Current Page" to set your home page to the whatever page is currently showing in your browser.
  4. Click the red "Close" control in the upper left-hand corner of the window to save your chanes.

Internet ExplorerMac OS 9 and OS X

  1. Within Internet Explorer, click the "Explorer" menu and choose "Preferences." (In OS 9, "Preferences" is located in the "Edit" menu.)
  2. In the dialog box that appears, click "Browser Display."
  3. Type the address of the web page you wish to use in the "Address" box.
  4. Click "OK."

FireFoxAll Versions

  1. Within Firefox, click the "Tools" menu and choose "Options."
  2. In the dialog box that appears, click "General."
  3. Type the address of the web page you wish to use in the "Locations" box.
    • You can click the button labeled "Use Current Page" to set your home page to the whatever page is currently showing in your browser.
  4. Click "OK."

Netscape NavigatorAll Versions

  1. Within Netscape, click the "Edit" menu and choose "Preferences."
  2. If "Navigator" is not already selected in the column on the left, go ahead and click it to select it.
  3. In the "Home Page" section, type the address of the web page you wish to use in the "Location:" box.
    • The "Use Current Page" button will set your home page to whatever page is currently showing in your browser.
    • To use a blank page when Navigator starts, click the "Blank page" option.
    • To automatically use the last web page you visited for your homepage, click the "Last page visited" option.
  4. Click "OK"

A Note About Hijacked Home Pages

If your hompage was changed without you knowing it and without your concent, it’s likely that your computer is infected with spyware. You can learn about spyware in our Security Center.
