WebRunner Setup Instructions For Windows

Download and Install WebRunner Software

  1. Download the WebRunner Software and save it to your desktop or other place you can find it:
  2. Double-click on the installer you just downloaded in order to begin the installation.

  3. Just click “Next” to continue.

  4. Read and acknowledge the license agreement and click “Next” to continue.

  5. Choose the location to install WebRunner and click “Next” to continue. The default location should be fine.

  6. After the installation is complete (it may take a while), you will be asked reboot your computer. Hit “Finish” to reboot. You MUST reboot in order to complete the installation.

  7. After the computer reboots you must login to the WebRunner server. Enter your info (see below) and hit “OK” to connect.

    • The username will be your dialup username including the domain name after the @ sign. Normally this is the same as the primary email address for the account. Valid domain names include: gcnet.com, dodgecity.net, liberal.net, iwichita.com, scottcity.net and ksip.net. If you use a domain name other than these you should use @ksip.net.
    • The password is the same as your dialup password.
  8. After you have logged in WebRunner should now be running. You should see a small icon in your application dock (usually in the lower right hand corner of your screen. There is a similar icon in your menu bar if you use Internet Explorer. This icon can be one of three colors:

    • Green: WebRunner is running and ready to accelerate your web browsing.
    • Yellow: WebRunner is running and currently accelerating data.
    • Red: WebRunner is not running.
  9. From the dock (and also from the menu bar if you use Internet Explorer), you can access the following menu:

    • Stop WebRunner: This will cause you log out of the WebRunner server and all accelleration will stop.
    • Statistics: Get current WebRunner statistics. See just how much data is currently being saved.
    • Performance: Similar to Statistics but over a specified time period.
    • Settings: Configure WebRunner.
    • Pop-Up Blocker: Settings for WebRunner's built-in popup blocker.
    • Help: Get help information.
  10. The most important Setting for WebRunner is the “Image Quality” setting:

    One of the largest savings in bandwidth from using WebRunner is the amount that images are reduced in size before being sent to your computer. The further to the left you set this setting the faster pages will load (but with the images being worse quality). The further to the right you set this setting the slower pages will load (but with the images being better quality). For casual web browsing most people can probably put the setting all the way to the left (for greatest speed increase).

  11. Thats it. You should now be able to open your web browser and see an immeadiate speed increase.
