Option 2: Manually Configure Your Computer Mac OS X 10.2, 10.3
- Make sure your Mac is connected properly connected to your phone line. At a certain point during the configuration process, your computer will try to dial the Internet connection to insure it is working properly.
- Launch the “Network Preferences Panel&rdquo by following these steps:
- Click the “Apple” menu (
) in the upper left corner of the screen. - Click “System Preferences.”
- Click the icon labeled network “Network.”.
- Click the “Apple” menu (
- The “Network Preferences Panel” will launch. Make selections as shown in the following screenshots.

- Click “Internal Modem.”
- Click the button labeled “Assist me.”

- Account Name: Enter your login-id in this box. This is the first part of your email address. Do not type the @-symbol nor any other part of your email address.
- Password: Enter your password. Passwords must be entered with correct capitalization.
- Password (Verify): Enter your password again.
- ISP Phone Number: Enter the Hubris Communications dial-up phone number for your city.
- Number to Get an Outside Line: If your computer is in an office and must dial a number to get an outside line, enter that number here, followed by a comma. For example, if you must dial “9” to get an outside line, enter “9,” here.
- Do You Have Call Waiting?: Click “Yes” or “No.” If you choose “Yes...”
- The next screen will show the dialing code needed to disable call waiting while connected to the Internet.
- If this code is correct for your phone line, simply click the button labeled “Continue.”
- If the code is not correct, type the correct code, then click “Continue.”

- The correct name of your modem should appear automatically in the box.
- When you click “Continue,” your computer will quickly test the modem to see if it receives a dial tone.
- If it does not detect a dial tone, you must correct the phone wiring before proceeding.

- Configure your email program.
Instructions vary depending on the email program you plan to use. Go to the Mac OS X Software Configuration page to choose your email program.
