Option 2: Manually Configure Your Computer Mac OS 7/8/9

  1. Launch the “Network Preferences Panel&rdquo by following these steps:
    1. Double-click the Hard Drive icon on the Desktop.
    2. Locate the folder called “Assistants” and open it.
    3. Locate the icon labeled “Internet Setup Assistant” and double-click it.
  2. The “Interent Setup Assistant” will launch. Make selections as shown in the following screenshots.

      • From this point on, you navigate the Assistant by click the left and right arrows in the lower right-hand corner of the window.

      • Type “Hubris” in the white box.
      • Select “Modem.”

      • The correct name of your modem should appear automatically in the box.
      • Make sure other options are set as shown.

      • Type the Hubris Communications dial-up phone number for your city. Enter the number using standard dashes (but no parentheses.) Enter the number exactly as you would dial it on your telephone, including a “1” and area code if necessary.
      • In the second field, type in your full email address in all lowercase letters.
      • In the third field, type in your password. Passwords must be entered with correct capitalization.

      • If you have OS 9: Leave both fields blank.
      • If you have OS 8: DNS numbers must be specified in the Internet Setup Assistant. Follow these additional instructions to enter the correct settings:
        1. Click inside the large white box.
        2. Type "207.178.96.2" (without the quotes), then press the RETURN key on your keyboard.
        3. Type "207.178.96.3" (without the quotes).
        4. Click inside the second white box.
        5. Type in your domain. This is the part of your email address which comes after the @-symbol.
        6. Click the right arrow to continue.

      • Enter your full email address in all lowercase letters in the first box.
      • In the second box, type in your password. This is the same password you typed before.
      • Leave the third white box blank.

      • This setting varies from the standard method used by newer software. Please follow these directions closely:
        1. In the first white box, type in your user name...
        2. Then type the '@' symbol...
        3. Then type your incoming mail server name.
      • In the second white box, type in your outgoing mail server name.

  3. Configure your email program.
